Shelter in Place Comedy Short Review

WARNING POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD

By: The Don

Shelter in Place (2020) is a comedic short film by local filmmaking company Mind Palace Pictures. The film is only eight minutes, but it is eight minutes of pure comedy.

The film is about an internet vlogger and huge douchebag Jack Pattinson (played by Ryan Crepack) who vlogs about his time sheltering inside of his home due to getting an illness (during the COVID-19 pandemic). Like many of us, we thought being inside for a month or two away from work would be the best time ever. You would binge your favorite shows/movies, rest, hang out, and not thinking about anything else… Jack Pattinson thought the same.

The acting was really good. Ryan did a good job of showing what quarantine life really is. He showed how you can possibly go insane and how boredom builds up… quickly.

The cinematography was great. It was filmed as if you were watching someone vlog on your phone. The sound was great as well, like an Instagram live video.

Overall, Shelter in Place is a great short film. I think it is something we should all watch to see what quarantine does to someone. Ryan does a pretty solid job in a solo film. The scene changes are awesome as well. The bathroom scene was hilarious.
