Badass Girl Squad Kicks Some Serious Ass!

So far, I’ve read a ton of bad reviews about this movie and only a handful of good reviews. I loved this movie from the opening scene until the final credits. Yes, my daughter made me sit in the theater until the very end of the credits. Um… honey this isn’t a Marvel made movie. 

Bright, colorful explosions, roller derby, a funhouse, kick-ass fight scenes, a 30-carat diamond, and a pretty, badass girl squad had me hyped in my seat the whole time. 

If you are a serious comic book devotee, then you probably are not going to like the movie. I on the other hand just take all comic book movies with a grain of salt and know that they are loosely based on the comic book,but they are not the comic book. Come on guys don’t take it so seriously. 

I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but the movie starts out with Joker and Harley Quinn breaking up and you have practically every villain in Gotham coming for her neck. Heartbreak is a blessing; it just doesn’t feel like that when you’re going through it. Pair her up with Black Canary, The Huntress, and Detective Renee Montoya, all women who have endured heartbreak, betrayal, and tragedy.  You don’t want to mess with a woman scorned, do you?  Black Mask and his army of villains had to find out the hard way about female empowerment. 

I really liked the fight scenes in this movie, roller skates, glitter bombs, mallets and crossbows in a Funhouse, what’s not to like.  also liked how these women, who have all been crushed by different aspects of life, came together and formed a “girl gang” that you wouldn’t want to mess with even on your best day.

The movie was fun and action-packed but for me, the message was a little deeper. You have all these strong, independent women and you can see how they became the women they are today. Darkness makes you stronger, indestructible. Heartbreak sucks but you learn from it, you grow, and you come out the other side with more strength than you ever knew you had. Am I thinking too deeply into this, maybe? You can decide for yourself when you go see the movie.  Well, what are you waiting for, go already!
